TIPS FOR CONTACTING LAWMAKERS
- You are represented by two members of the Wisconsin Legislature; contact both your Assembly representative and your senator about preserving the trade-in credit.
- Be brief, clear and to the point.
- Make the case in your own words; let your lawmakers know why preserving the trade-in credit matters to you.
- Ask each of your legislators to respond by indicating whether he or she will work to preserve the trade-in credit.
- Phone calls and emails can be useful, but a clear, well-reasoned and legible letter will often have the greatest impact of any form of legislative contact.
- Lawmakers get relatively few letters, so those they do get tend to matter.
- If you write a letter, be sure to type or legibly write your full name and address directly on any correspondence you send; envelopes may get separated.
- If you send an email, be sure to include your name and municipality of residence (or full address).
