LEGISLATORS DO LISTEN!

  • Constituents can get the attention of lawmakers.
  • Explain to them that you oppose this tax increase.
  • Let them know that their support for preserving the trade-in credit matters to you.

TIPS FOR CONTACTING LAWMAKERS

  • You are represented by two members of the Wisconsin Legislature; contact both your Assembly representative and your senator about preserving the trade-in credit.
  • Be brief, clear and to the point.
  • Make the case in your own words; let your lawmakers know why preserving the trade-in credit matters to you.
  • Ask each of your legislators to respond by indicating whether he or she will work to preserve the trade-in credit.
  • Phone calls and emails can be useful, but a clear, well-reasoned and legible letter will often have the greatest impact of any form of legislative contact.
  • Lawmakers get relatively few letters, so those they do get tend to matter.
  • If you write a letter, be sure to type or legibly write your full name and address directly on any correspondence you send; envelopes may get separated.
  • If you send an email, be sure to include your name and municipality of residence (or full address).
